Letter: A vote for Jon Kiper is a vote for our future
In August, my husband and I welcomed our second child into the world. As a parent, I’m deeply concerned about the future that my children will face.
I was born and raised in New Hampshire, and I was lucky enough to be able to stay to build a family here. But over the years, I’ve watched as so many young people flee our state in search of affordable housing, better public schools, and greater access to health care. Because of our housing crisis, families are broken up and scattered across the country.
As one of the few state lawmakers with young children, my efforts to set up our children and grandchildren for success are often met with resistance. Working parents of young children struggle for representation in our lawmaking process, making necessary economic progress infuriatingly slow. Fortunately, a working parent is running for governor: Jon Kiper.
Jon understands the velocity of a dollar in this economy, maximizing its value as Granite Staters do. As a father and a small business owner, Jon is focused on ensuring that young people will be able to afford to stay in our state — and thrive.
Jon has creative plans to leverage our existing state resources to expand housing, bring down costs, and breathe new life into our economy. With Jon in the corner office, I am hopeful that we can address the systemic, statewide problems that have caused this recent mass exodus. I invite readers to join me in supporting his bid for governor.
